The First 3D Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery was Performed at YGIA Polyclinic
The first three-dimensional (3D) laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery was performed at YGIA Polyclinic by Dr. Giannis Ioannou, General Surgeon. Many Associated Doctors of YGIA Polyclinic specializing in Surgery (General Surgeons, Obstetricians, Thoracic Surgeons, e.t.c.) have planned surgeries with the 3D laparoscopic method in the near future.
The 3D laparoscopic surgery is the evolution of the conventional 2D laparoscopic surgery that has been widely used in recent years. The advantages of the 3D laparoscopic surgery over the conventional method are numerous.
The evolutionary method offers the Surgeon a normal 3D image, thus providing an in-depth perception, offering improved hand and eye coordination, while providing precise spatial orientation. It also reduces the Surgeon’s fatigue and the duration of the operation. With RD laparoscopy, the cost of the operation is reduced and accuracy is increased.
